Can BMW hold on to the International Engine of the Year Awards’ crown?
The results of the eighth International Engine of the Year Awards will be announced on 10 May 2006 at Engine Expo in Stuttgart, Germany – and last year’s champion, BMW, is hoping that its current crop of engines can fend off stiff competition from a number of bold new powerplants...
And it’s not just powerful engines that could sway the jury’s vote: Toyota has launched another eco-friendly hybrid in the shape of the Lexus 3.5-litre V6 Hybrid, while Renault has a host of new, fuel-efficient diesel motors. Then there’s VW Group’s supercar-inspired V10, its refined V8 diesel and a smart 1.4-litre that not only saves fuel but also packs a punch thanks to its use of both a turbocharger and supercharger.
The results of the International Engine of the Year Awards 2006 will be decided by a panel of 61 renowned automotive journalists from 29 countries, all of whom have extensive knowledge and experience of today’s modern car engines.
