Football fever causes car crashes

World Cup fever is set to cause a huge rise in the number of car accidents, as drivers rush to get home to see Beckham and his chums on the telly.

If England make it to the final, accidents are expected to double, according to the research carried out by Churchill Insurance.

During the Euro 2004 championship, the accident rate went up by more than 50 per cent.
