The Ferrari and Honda Formula One teams both ran private test sessions in Italy on Wednesday, the former at their own Fiorano track and the latter at the Vallelunga circuit near Rome.

Ferrari began their week’s work with Luca Badoer at the wheel of the 248 F1, the Italian focussing on development of Bridgestone wet-weather tyres in showery conditions. He completed 62 laps, including a dozen on Fiorano’s short layout, with a best time of 1m 03.198s.

Honda actually began their three-day Vallelunga test - their first ever at the circuit - on Tuesday, when Anthony Davidson and James Rossiter worked on tyres and chassis, setting best times of 1m 15.755s and 1m 16.416s respectively.

Both Honda testers continued the team’s chassis programme on Wednesday, but wet weather set in during the afternoon to limit their progress. Davidson completed 67 laps with a fastest time of 1m 16.040s, while Rossiter’s best was a 1m 17.608s after 35 laps.
