Kia’s Sorento has made a stunning debut in the Auto Express Driver Power Survey, proving it is king of the hill by claiming second place in the off-road class and reaching thirteenth in the overall rankings ahead of established rivals such as the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4 and Land Rover’s Freelander and Discovery.

This continues the Sorento’s award winning streak adding to its existing titles of Tow Car of the Year 2006 and number one 4x4 for customer satisfaction in the J.D. Power Survey 2005.

The 46,000 motorists who took part in the survey rate vehicles over ten categories and Sorento was placed in the top five for practicality and ease of driving and in the top ten for reliability and comfort.

Paul Williams, Managing Director of Kia Motors (UK) Limited commented: "We are delighted that the first time Sorento has been in this survey it has beaten off premium brand competitors and is proof that the Kia brand is making the savvy car buyer’s shortlist."

Kia also overtook established premium brands such as Volkswagen, Nissan, Ford, Vauxhall and Renault to climb three places and claim fifteenth position out of the 37 manufacturers rated.

Paul Williams added: "Sorento introduced an entirely new generation of products to the Kia range and our success in this survey highlights our ongoing commitment to producing quality products. We are now working on developing our models further, and four of those will be with us by the end of this year, making 2006 the year that customers will see Kia move up another gear."
