The all-new seven-passenger 2007 Mazda CX-9 crossover SUV, which the company today announced it will show for the first time at the 2006 New York International Auto Show, incorporates an all-new platform architecture.

Its unibody construction utilizes new-to-Mazda architecture, an all-new 3.5-liter V6 engine and a new six-speed Sport AT automatic transmission.

While styling echoes the recently introduced CX-7 crossover SUV, CX-9 is not a lengthened three-row CX-7, and CX-7 should not be considered to be a shorter-wheelbase CX-9. More information about the Mazda CX-7 and CX-9 will be available at the Auto Show.

Mazda invites all attending media to join the company for its press conference at 9:10 a.m. on Thursday, April 13, at its show stand to learn more and to speak with executives about both vehicles.

The New York International Auto Show runs April 14-23 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York.

Headquartered in Irvine, Calif., Mazda North American Operations oversees the sales, marketing, parts and customer service support of Mazda vehicles in the United States, Canada and Mexico through nearly 900 dealers. Operations in Canada are managed by Mazda Canada, Inc., located in Ontario, Canada, and in Mexico by Mazda Motor de Mexico in Mexico City.
