A cool 1bn pounds to insure MPH Show

The organisers of this year’s Jeremy Clarkson MPH ‘06 auto-fest are forced to insure the show for £1bn. A combination of the rare metal on show, staging equipment, public liability, presenters and celebrity guest appearances, means organisers of the event will require more insurance than any other show of its kind in the world. Over 300 examples of the planet’s most exclusive performance cars will be housed, and then moved, between the initial Birmingham NEC venue (26-29 October), and on to London’s Earls Court (2-5 November).

Amongst the feast of exotica on show will be the fearsome 806 bhp Koenigsegg CCX, the exotic 7.3 litre Pagani Zonda F and the ludicrously fast Caparo T1, which packs a staggering 1000 bhp/ton punch.

The centrepiece 75-minute theatre experience, costing more than £1m to stage, will include everything from flying caravans and high-speed 3D Apache helicopter chases.

Jeremy Clarkson, James May and friends will host the unique live show.

For the first time this year, visitors to London’s Earls Court event can also enjoy entry to the exclusive MPH Classic show where 200 historic performance cars worth upwards of £30 million will be on display. The unique Jaguar XJ13 valued at £7million will be one of the star attractions, alongside a Le Mans class winning MGB and the oldest Aston Martin on earth.

Tickets are on sale now at www.mphshow.co.uk or 0870 126 2100 and cost between £22 and £49 per person with three shows scheduled per day (four on Saturday).
