A few days ago, blogs around the globe reported on Audi's electric R8 possibly making its debut at this year's Frankfurt show in September. We've got more news on that now, or should I say no news?

Audi's spokesperson rubbished such claims and assured, much to our disappointment, that the company is not involved in building or showcasing any such electric supercar.

Audi brought out a concept car that could have been the world's first ever diesel supercar, but sadly the Audi R8 V12 TDI never happened either.

Audi might give an entry in the Frankfurt Motor Show with the Audi R8 Spyder which we featured here last week.

Electric supercars are the next stage of evolution in the world of speed and thrill. Tesla has shown the way and evoked interest of many other car makers to build their own electric high-speed, no-pollution supercars. Audi, who is concerned of building eco-friendly automobiles might re-think its electric supercar plans in the future, but we hope it doesn't come too late.
