AUDI AG will continue the cooperation with Bundesliga (Federal League) club Hertha BSC beyond the 2008/2009 season. Not least, the good sporting development of the team from Germany’s capital city was a factor contributing to the extension of this sponsoring commitment. The new agreement will be in effect for three years, ending on 30 June 2012. With the Swiss coach Lucien Favre the German tradition-steeped club Hertha BSC evolved into a top-flight team on the first 15 playing days of the current season. Third place with just a one-point gap to the top favourite, FC Bayern München, represents a strong showing.

With support from the Audi Centres Berlin-Charlottenburg and Berlin Lichtenberg, the Berliners continue to receive vehicles from the current model range. In return, Audi presents itself at Berlin’s Olympic Stadium on banners and in the VIP area. “We’re very pleased with this collaboration and are seeing a great sporting development with Hertha BSC. As a premium manufacturer, it is important to us to cooperate with strong brands. That is why we decided to extend the commitment beyond the current season,” says Markus Siebrecht, Director of Sales and Distribution, Audi Region East.

Dieter Hoeneß adds, “Around the world, Audi stands for sportiness and dynamism and is an outstanding partner for us to pursue our ambitious sporting goals as well as to continue developing the Hertha BSC brand. I am delighted that Audi will remain our exclusive partner until 2012.”

For Audi, the partnerships in football are an important sporting engagement. Since as far back as 2002, for example, AUDI AG has been the exclusive vehicle partner of German record champion FC Bayern München, since 2003 the automobile partner of record Champions League winner Real Madrid and since 2007 Audi has been maintaining partnerships with the European top-class clubs AC Milan and FC Barcelona.
