Autodelta announced that they have appointed leading performance wheel manufacturer, OZ as official supplier of road wheels to the London-based design and tuning house. Autodelta’s growing range of exclusive, bespoke model packages will now be presented fitted with OZ wheels. The announcement comes soon after OZ joined the Autodelta European Tour 2006 as an official partner.

”We’re delighted to welcome OZ on-board as a partner, particularly as a company with closer synergies and brand values to ourselves would be hard to find,” comments Autodelta’s Jano Djelalian. “OZ Racing is a perfect example of high performance Italian automotive technology and innovation in practice. This company is truly synonymous with motoring enthusiasts’ worldwide for the excellence of its products. OZ manufactures prestigious and exclusive products to the highest standards, targets which we also set for ourselves. And just like Autodelta, OZ Racing continually put their products to the test in the sternest of public arenas,” notes Jano.

Founded in at Vicenza petrol station by Silvano Oselladore and Pietro Zen in 1971, OZ – which is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year - has today grown into one of the most successful, cutting-edge performance wheel manufacturers in the world. Last year Fernando Alonso raced to the F1 World Championship title with OZ Racing wheels fitted on his Renault; Citroën clinched the FIA World Rally Championship title with OZ wheels; and Audi won the Le Mans 24 Hours.

The first wheel to be offered by Autodelta is OZ’s new 19-in Ultraleggera which is manufactured using cutting-edge flow forming technology. The result is a ground-breaking wheel that is up to 40 percent lighter than alternatives. It offers a drastic improvement in power/weight ratio, a reduction in unsprung mass and in the braking performance window; and faster acceleration. The exclusive new bespoke Autodelta Brera J5 3.2 C model was fitted with these specially developed 19-inch Ultraleggera wheels (shod with Dunlop 245/35/19 tyres) during its official presentation pan-Europe tour last month; a 7-day event which culminated in its world première at the Hotel Metropole in Casino Square, Monte Carlo. It will be presented on these wheels during its motor show debut this month at the MPH Motor Show, at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham (29th-29th October), and at the Earl’s Court Exhibition Centre in London (2nd-5th November).
“This Ultraleggera 19-inch wheel brings several distinct advantages to the model we are launching,” says Jano. “Not least the weight saving properties it demonstrates. Weight rationalisation is firmly in our minds as we develop the latest Alfa Romeo models and our engineers are keen to take this into account whenever the opportunity arises. With the Alfa Romeo factory options package offering up to 18-inch wheels we have been keen to test and endorse a 19-inch wheel as there is already strong customer demand for this option.”

The Ultraleggera 19-inch wheel from OZ has been highly successful and is officially approved by the Renault F1 team. A ground breaking new process in wheel development, it offers excellent technical features, that result a lower weight than for wheels cast in forged aluminium. The reduction is evenly distributed on each wheel, improving unsprung weight. It thus emphasizes the effect of a design directly derived from the experience in competitions in which the weight plays an important role in both performances and safety. Constructed according to Flow forming technology, the Ultraleggera 19” has very similar mechanical characteristics to those of a forged wheel, confirming the attainment of two very important goals: weight reduction and firmness.
