Buick, Pontiac, GMC Say
During National Military Appreciation Month this May, Buick, Pontiac and GMC dealers across the county are partnering with A Million Thanks to collect individual thank you notes to send directly to our men and women in uniform. The goal is to collect one million notes at collection points located in dealerships. Once collected, the notes will be distributed by A Million Thanks, an organization founded by teenager Shauna Fleming. Since 2004, A Million Thanks has collected and distributed nearly three million notes to soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines around the world.
“The reaction we’ve received from the military who have been reached by our efforts has been so rewarding,” said Fleming. “The support of Buick, Pontiac and GMC will allow us to greatly expand our ability to reach out to members of the armed forces around the world, exactly at a time when they need our support the most.”

This year’s program builds on the success of a 2006 effort by General Motors’ Buick, Pontiac and GMC divisions to assist the VFW National Home for Children in Eaton Rapids, Mich. The unique facility, which provides community-based support for military families in need, has received in excess of $3 million from Buick, Pontiac and GMC to date.

“After our efforts with the National Home for Children last year, we felt strongly that we could and should do more for the military and their families,” said Mike Jackson, vice president of GM’s North America Sales, Service and Marketing. “We are indeed fortunate that Buick, Pontiac and GMC are in a position to have the resources and infrastructure to help Shauna and A Million Thanks with their mission.”
