HRH, The Duke of York, visits Caterham Cars
Caterham Cars welcomed His Royal Highness Prince Andrew, The Duke of York to its Dartford factory yesterday (Wed Oct 21) in his role as the UK’s Special Representative for International Trade and Investment.
The British sportscar company achieved pan-European homologation for its iconic Seven earlier this year, opening up the possibility to expand greatly on an already strong export market.
As a sign of its overseas growth, Caterham is one of only three non-Japanese manufacturers to exhibit at this week’s Tokyo motor show.
The Duke of York’s role includes creating more positive business conditions for British companies investing abroad, helping UK firms export their products to emerging and established markets and promoting the UK as an attractive inward investment destination for foreign investors.
During his visit to the factory, which builds every new car produced by Caterham, His Royal Highness met with the Company’s workforce and discussed business conditions for low volume manufacturers with Tim Ingram Hill, Chairman of Caterham Cars.
“We were delighted to welcome His Royal Highness”, said Mr Ingram Hill. “In a difficult time for manufacturing companies across the UK, we have ridden the storm extremely well, with a positive order book until April next year now.”
