Made in China Mitsubishi Lancer gets 1.6 and 1.8-liter engines
Although the majority of the Chinese have not had the chance to experience the bone-chrushing Evo, it hasn't bothered the sales of the normal Lancer. The Lancer has carved out a portion for itself in the family sedan market with its space and comfort and the Chinese-made Lancers are going to get more suited for the family man with their new and more frugal engines.
The new Lancer engines will mate with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT based automatic transmission.
There is also conception of the new Chinese made Lancers being smaller than their Japanese counterpart. It is yet to be verified, but then a smaller car with a powerful engine comes in handy after you've dropped the kids of at school and your wife to work.
