New Golf GTI to make debut at SMMT Test Day 2009
The eagerly-awaited new Golf GTI will be available for journalists to drive at the SMMT Test Day at Millbrook Proving Ground next Thursday (21 May) ahead of the car’s official launch date on 22 May.
Reinforcing the performance theme, visitors to the Volkswagen stand next week will also be able to test drive the Caddy Sportline, a compact van with a 2.0-litre TDI engine producing 140 PS, and sporting bodykit to match.

Hospitality will be available in the Volkswagen unit, as well as in a California campervan on the stand. This unique vehicle will provide additional shade from the sun or shelter from the rain – depending on what the Millbrook microclimate throws at visitors this year.

The Volkswagen stand will be hosted by:
Paul Buckett 07850 787049
Angus Fitton 07940 720187
Kate Thompson 07713 265562
Nicki Finlayson 07802 248310
John Rawlings 07872 379544
