Nissan Motor Co., Ltd has pledged 5 million yen to help disaster relief efforts in the Niigata area following the 16 July earthquake. 3 million yen will be donated immediately to Central Community Chest of Japan, to support on-the-ground volunteer activities. Other contributions will go towards providing rental cars to support recovery efforts in the mid to long term. Nissan, in collaboration with Nippon Keidanren, will also donate 1,000 towels, part of a larger effort to assist local residents who are being temporarily housed in emergency evacuation centres.
