The Nissan Pathfinder 2.5 dCi Aventura has been voted the ‘Best Medium Off-Roader 2006’ in Planet 4x4 magazine's first ever awards.

Alan Kidd, Planet 4x4’s editor, commented: “The Pathfinder is way ahead of the rest. By managing to score highest for both on- and off-road performance, while also providing the best value for money and offering the most appealing combination of image and practicality, it shows that it is possible to make compromises which work at every level. Combining comfort and manoeuvrability with loads of traction, it impressed everyone with its sure-footed performance and left the impression that it could cope with much more.”

The various 4x4s were put through their paces over a week at a former quarry recognised as one of Britain’s best 4x4 sites by a judging panel of four journalists. The vehicles were assessed for 17 different criteria, including image, practicality, ergonomics and all aspects of their on- and off-road performance. These marks were weighted to take account of the importance placed on each by typical buyers; the single criterion attracting the highest score was value for money.

The ’07 model year Pathfinder is now on sale and on-the-road prices start from £22,995.
