Porsche at the Paris Motor Show
Porsche will present four new models at the Paris Motor Show “Mondial de l’Automobile” (September 30 – October 15). The 911 Targa 4 (and 4S), the 911 GT3 RS, the Cayman and the Boxster (and Boxster S) with new engines will be making their debuts. With the 911 Targa 4 (239 kW/325 bhp) and the 911 Targa 4S (261 kW/355 bhp), Porsche is displaying two new versions of the classic sports coupe. For the first time, the Targa is being offered exclusively with permanent all-wheel drive and a body that is 44 millimetres wider at the rear. Like their predecessor (the Type 996), these elegant sports cars have a large retractable glass roof and an opening rear window. The Targa 4 and 4S will reach UK dealers on 4 November.
The Boxster and Boxster S started the new model year (from August 1, 2006) with increased performance and torque. The 2.7-litre engine in the Boxster now develops 245 bhp (180 kW), representing an increase of 5 bhp. The torque has increased to 273 Nm, available from 4,600 rpm. Meanwhile, fuel consumption and emissions have been reduced. The Boxster S engine, whose displacement has been increased from 3.2 to 3.4-litres, develops 295 bhp (217 kW) at 6,250 rpm – 15 bhp more than the previous model. The 3.4-litre engine has 340 Nm of torque.
On July 29, the new Cayman went on sale. The two-seater sports coupé has a 2.7-litre horizontally-opposed six-cylinder engine that develops 245 bhp (180 KW). Following the successful market entry of the Cayman S in spring 2005, the Cayman completes the Porsche sports car range.
Wolfgang Dürheimer, Executive Vice President Research and Development, commented: “We are delighted to be represented in Paris by these top-class new vehicles. The wide scope of the products shows that we are always working on further developing our sports cars and are continually searching for improvements.“
