Škoda sponsors World Ice Hockey champs
For the sixteenth year in succession, Škoda is due to sponsor the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Championships*. The event will take place in the home of the sport, Canada.
A fleet of 45 official silver vehicles will be provided for the event including: Roomster Scouts, Octavia Hatch and Estate. Furthermore, the Championships will see the worldwide TV premiere of the new Škoda Superb, which will be displayed in Quebec and Halifax.

Škoda is also to remain as the Czech and Slovak national team sponsors, as well as having its logo on the Russian team’s jerseys and helmets. Head of Communications, Martin Lauer said: “This is symbolic for us as Russia is one of our most important emerging markets, which is why we opened a brand new Škoda assembly plant in Kaluga last year.”

Commenting upon the upcoming ice hockey season, Martin Lauer added: “We wish every success to the ice hockey teams. We feel very honoured to have a chance of presenting our vehicles in the country where ice hockey was born. May the best team win.”

* Škoda holds the Guinness World Record for the longest-ever main sponsorship of any sports world championship.
