Speed limit tribute to Valentino Rossi
Multiple MotoGP World Champion Valentino Rossi's home town is to change the speed limit from 50kmh to 46 - the racing number of his motorbike, Ananova reports.
Rossi donated £500,000 to civic coffers in Tavullia, central Italy, where locals plan to use it to spruce up the cemetery.
Biker Rossi handed over the sum to settle a row with tax officials over claims that he was living in England when he was really in Italy.
Locals have praised the move and welcomed the lowering of the speed limit.
A spokesman for the local council said: "We are really happy about the cash and it will be put to very good use.
"He is the town's most famous son and it is wonderful that he has given us this money. Changing the speed limit is a fitting tribute to a man who has made his fame and fortune entirely out of his skills on the road."
