The Aston Martin DB9 has been voted the nation’s ultimate dream car - beating rivals such as the Lamborghini Gallardo and Ferrari Enzo - in a poll conducted by DVLA Personalised Registrations. Nearly 3,300 motorists entered the poll of which 501 voted Aston’s DB9 as the vehicle they’d most like to drive, and with the Vanquish in third place with 392 votes, just behind the Bugatti Veyron, it was a podium double for the British based luxury car maker and double top as most popular marque and model.
The R8, Audi’s new kid on the block made a dream debut with fourth place, ahead of the more established exotica from Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche and Mercedes, although Ferrari secured a strong second spot in the most popular marque category.

Damian Lawson, marketing manager for DVLA Personalised Registrations, explained: ‘It started as a bit of fun. We were promoting our product on some very classy cars to highlight that while cars like this may be a dream for most of us a personalised number can actually be surprisingly affordable. Everyone we talked to seemed to have an opinion on what their dream car would be so we decided to find out which models and marques people would really like to drive.

“Personally I’d be happy with any of them but it’s great to see the winner has ‘Made in Britain’ on it.”
