Thirty years of safe braking with ABS from Bosch
Posted on 04/25/2008 under: Safety, Technology
In 1978 Bosch made history when the first electronically-controlled antilock braking system, ABS, rolled off the production line. This groundbreaking technology was to become the basis for all modern brake regulating systems and Bosch systems based on ABS, such as the Electronic Stability Program (ESP®) and Traction Control System (TCS), have also successfully established themselves in the market. Today, around three quarters of all vehicles produced worldwide are fitted with ABS and other brake regulating systems.
The increasing number of vehicles being fitted with electronically-controlled brake regulating systems is placing new demands on workshops. All hydraulic and mechanical components have to work together correctly to allow the electronics to do their job. Knowledge and expertise as well as an efficient diagnosis and information system play an increasingly important role in the professional maintenance of electronics and repair of wearing brake parts.
