Volkswagen of America, Inc announced today that the GTI, Eos, and Passat wagon have been named 2007 Best Resale Award winners by Kelley Blue Book. The annual award acknowledges automakers for achievements in the design, engineering and production of vehicles that best retain their value five years after introduction into the market. Volkswagen was honored in three of the nine vehicle categories utilized by Kelley Blue Book: the GTI for the hatchback category, the Eos for the convertible category and Passat wagon for the wagon category.

The 2007 GTI features a 200-horsepower 2.0T four-cylinder engine with standard six-speed manual transmission. The GTI also boasts a fully independent, sports-tuned suspension, and for the first time in the U.S., the GTI is now available with four doors.

“Hatchback flexibility coupled with a responsive turbocharged engine and grippy handling gives the GTI a unique and appealing combination of versatility and performance,” said Jack R. Nerad, executive editorial director and executive market analyst for Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com.

Much like the GTI, the 2007 Eos stands out from the competition. Its innovative convertible hardtop with built-in panoramic sunroof makes the model the first and only industry vehicle of its kind with this feature. The four-seat Eos combines the excitement of a convertible with the styling and comfort of a coupe, as noted by Nerad.

The 2007 Passat wagon also impressed Kelley Blue Book analysts. With four available models, the Passat wagon is a versatile option for drivers who desire both interior comfort and exterior styling.

“With a premium-like interior, excellent powertrain and a starting price in the mid-$20,000 range, the all-new Passat wagon holds tremendous appeal for all who appreciate the unique combination of engaging driving dynamics and SUV-like cargo versatility provided by a mid-size European wagon,” added Nerad.

Volkswagen’s 2007 models are available in showrooms now.
