Artist Matthew Harrison today unveils his latest project entitled ‘Hummer’ at the fifth Zoo Art Fair (17-20 October) - a HUMMER H3 complete with wooden wagon wheels, the iconic installation will be parked on Old Burlington Road, London, opposite the Royal Academy of Arts for the duration of the fair.

This is a very interesting scenario. SUVs powered by big gasoline engines are becoming unpopular in the U.S, thanks to sky-rocketing crude oil prices that threaten to destroy the conventional car itself. GM has been posting record losses on a regular basis and to stop the bleeding to some extent, it planned to push off the Hummer brand, one of the main culprits.

HUMMER has partnered with Mountain Rescue (England & Wales), to provide a specially modified vehicle for the UK charity. UK Mountain Rescue celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2008 and to commemorate this landmark, the newly launched right-hand drive HUMMER H3 will support the charity’s busiest teams in England and Wales across the year. The hardy on/off road vehicle will carry both equipment and personnel as Mountain Rescue goes about saving hundreds of lives annually.

HUMMER Adds to American Red Cross Disaster Response Capability

As part of a six-year commitment to the American Red Cross, HUMMER and the GM Foundation will deliver 12 more HUMMER vehicles to Red Cross locations across the U.S. Red Cross chapters in Long Island, NY; San Francisco, Sacramento, Santa Ana, and Santa Clara, Calif.; Dallas; Houston; Tampa, Fla.; Winston-Salem, NC; Scott, La.; and Red Cross national headquarters in Washington, D.C. will receive a combination of H2 and H3 vehicles to strengthen their emergency readiness and disaster response capability. HUMMER's relationship with the American Red Cross began in 2004, with a commitment to provide the organization with 72 vehicles that includes a combination of H1, H2 and H3 models, as well as $100,000 each year from the GM Foundation.
