Cleaning up your conscience – and your exhaust emissions – can be a costly affair, with most manufacturers charging extra for the technology to cut tail pipe emissions. But Hyundai has just launched a new range of cars – branded i-Blue - which will offer emissions below the crucial 120g/km barrier but which are priced at the highly competitive level buyers expect from Hyundai.

Big families, small businesses and anyone with lots of friends can rejoice – at last there is a classy way to carry eight people and luggage in a car that costs less than £20,000. Unlike most MPVs, which only have room for seven people, the i800 can comfortably accommodate eight. In addition the big Hyundai will still have room for all their luggage. In fact the i800 has 851 litres of space in the boot even when loaded with passengers; that’s twice as much as some estate cars!

The Genesis Coupe is scheduled to join the Hyundai lineup in South Korea and North America early in 2009, and may come to Britain in limited numbers later next year.

For some car makers, creating an estate involves little more than grafting a boxy back end onto a hatchback and hoping for the best. Not Hyundai. The all-new i30 Estate is based on a stretched platform extended by 50mm, and as a result is a more flexible, family-friendly package. And with prices starting at £12,995, the new i30 also beats the opposition for value and equipment.
