Kia Motors Corporation hosted an opening ceremony at its Zilina plant in Slovakia this week to mark the official opening of Kia’s first ever European factory. The official opening was scheduled on the third anniversary of the ground-breaking event which began the transformation of Kia’s 166 hectare site into one of Europe’s most advanced and productive plants. Kia and the local Government held the ceremony to formally recognise the contribution that this facility has made to the region since production started last year. Not only has the factory created in excess of 10,000 new jobs in the area but can also boast being one of the most environmentally safe factories in Europe.

Aimed at second year students, the goal is to promote home grown design talent in the many areas of design throughout the car industry. Entrants were supplied with a wide ranging theme for the basis of their work looking for innovative approaches to the challenges of the automotive industry through creative art, design, media and communication.

Kia’s exciting all-new ex_cee’d cabrio concept car will be premiered at the 77th Salon de l’Automobiles in Geneva, Switzerland on 6 March. The styling of the eagerly anticipated ex_cee’d cabrio is the work of Peter Schreyer, Kia’s new Chief Design Officer, and hints at the future direction Kia vehicles could be taking under his guidance. Based on the new three-door cee’d hatchback, due to go into production at the Zilina factory in Slovakia from December, the ex_cee’d shares the same platform, but features all-new exterior panels and a powered folding fabric roof.

The all-new Kia cee'd wagon will make its world premiere at the 77th Salon de l’Automobiles in Geneva on 6 March. www.kia.com, was awarded as the highest ranked automobile manufacturer web site in the recently released J.D. Power and Associates 2007 Manufacturer Web Site Evaluation Study -- Wave 1 (MWES (SM)). Kia rated highest overall among manufacturer Web sites in terms of usability, comprising speed, navigation, appearance and information/content. The top ranking marks the third time Kia has had the highest ranked web site in the MWES(SM). Kia.com was previously ranked highest in 2005 (Wave 2) and with this most recent award it becomes the first manufacturer web site to finish in the top spot three separate times. All three award recognized sites were prepared by Animated Designs, LLC., Kia's interactive agency based in Westlake Village, Calif.

Kia Motors America (KMA) today during a press conference unveiled the all-new Kia Kue crossover concept vehicle at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. The press conference also served as the official public debut in North America for Peter Schreyer, new global design chief of Kia Motors Corporation (KMC). "We've instilled confidence and integrity in our consumer base with vehicles that provide value, quality and safety," said Len Hunt, executive vice president and COO of KMA. "Kue embodies the next phase of our brand evolution, which will instill pride and passion in our customers through great design."

The 2007 Kia Sorento earned a five-star crash safety rating, the highest rating possible, for all seating positions in the latest frontal and side impact crash tests conducted by the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). This marks the first five-star frontal rating for the Sorento, and its fifth consecutive five-star rating for side impact.
