Automobili Lamborghini SpA has announced record sales figures for 2007, building and selling 2,406 cars worldwide: a 15% increase over the 2,087 cars delivered in 2006. A particularly strong sales increase of nearly 40% was recorded in the UK, with deliveries of 211 vehicles. North America, Lamborghini’s largest market, accounted for more than 1000 cars. Lamborghini’s home market of Italy saw a growth of 38% with 134 units sold, whilst total European sales accounted for 959 units, with a growth of more than 22% over the previous year.

The Ghedi (Brescia) military airport was the setting this week for an extraordinary acceleration race between a Tornado aircraft [A200-A] provided by the airbase, and the Lamborghini Reventón driven by an official Lamborghini test driver. The fighter pilot and the Lamborghini test driver challenged each other on the 3000 m-long runway. The Reventón took the lead in the first leg of the race, but the Tornado caught up in the last few metres, taking off and flying over the Reventón that was going at a speed of over 340 km/h.

Once again, BF Performance is proud to present the next generation conversion based on the Lamborghini Gallardo, the GT 540. The car has been fitted with an optional aerodynamic kit which makes the car look like a baby 640. It has a newly designed front spoiler which makes it look like its bigger brother. The car also has side skirts under the sills and a magnificent rear diffuser. BF Performance also offers a choice of two rear spoilers SL or GT style. Of course the traditional wing door conversion is still available. The carbon fibre wing mirrors are beautiful and a must.

Lamborghini has unveiled the Lamborghini Reventón at Frankfurt Motor Show. With a price tag of €1 million euros plus taxes, all of the 20 cars to be produced are pre sold to customers worldwide, with one car coming to a customer in the UK. The car will be delivered to an unnamed customer of Lamborghini Birmingham, the official Lamborghini dealership located in Fort Dunlop, Birmingham.

Automobili Lamborghini has announced its 2008 model year Gallardo and Murciélago LP640 models. The Lamborghini Murciélago will now come with a three-year warranty, in line with the three-year warranty already offered in the UK on Lamborghini Gallardo models. The unlimited mileage warranty will now be standard across all markets, reflecting the high level of manufacturing qualities found in Lamborghini cars. The Gallardo MY08 now offers the following additional standard equipment: onboard computer, heated mirrors, and USB connection under the front bonnet in place of the CD loader as a no-cost option.

Lamborghini has celebrated the issuing by the Italian Post Office (Poste Italiane) of a postage stamp dedicated to the Lamborghini Miura. The €0,85 stamp features a reproduction of the distinctive Sant’ Agata Bolognese mark: the raging bull on a black background. A special announcement ceremony was hosted by Lamborghini’s President and Chief Executive Stephan Winkelmann at Lamborghini’s factory in the presence of the Director of the Poste Italiane and other local dignitaries and the public. The stamp, as well as a limited number of ‘first day covers’ can be purchased from Italian post offices. The first day cover includes a booklet introducing the stamp and the legendary Lamborghini story, signed by Stephan Winkelmann. The Lamborghini stamp belongs to the ‘Made In Italy’ series with an anticipated production of around 3,500,000 stamps.
