Sunday’s Powered By Mercedes-Benz Live, event, hosted by Mercedes-Benz World at Brooklands, was a huge success with over 15,000 motorsport fans attending. It was the biggest crowd at Brooklands since the tracks’ heyday in the 1930s, and the visitors had an up-close and personal taste of F1, DTM and F3 stars, all free of charge.

Celebrations are already underway as Mercedes-Benz World in Weybridge prepares to welcome the millionth visitor passing through its doors. On Saturday 24 or Sunday 25 October, the lucky millionth visitor will win the chance to meet Lewis Hamilton at Powered by Mercedes-Benz Live on Sunday 8 November. Collected from their home in a luxurious Maybach car, the lucky winner and three guests will be chauffeur-driven to Mercedes-Benz World.

The National Media Museum in Bradford, UK, is currently in the process of raising a photographic treasure. The project, which aims to scan a large proportion of the photographs housed in the Zoltán Glass archive, will systematically catalogue the work of the artist, whose main creative periods came in the 1930s and 1950s, and to make them accessible in digital format. The Bradford collection numbers around 6,000 images in total; the work is scheduled for completion in April 2010.

Mercedes seems to have caught the angle-fever lately, first the beautiful roundness of the last-gen E-Class was changed dramatically, then the shooting brake concept was unveiled, which showcased an even more angular facade and now we face the prospect of an angular…wait for it! ML-class, the full sized SUV from the Mercedes stable. The van-like look will be given a total and sporty makeover come 2011.

The Mercedes Benz ESF (Experimental Safety Vehicle) showcases all possible safety devices Mercedes Benz cars would feature in the coming years. Such a concept was last shown in 1974 at the Geneva Motor Show. The ESF 2009 features inflatable metal structures designed to save space and weight. The side impact bars are in this list which would be blown to pressures of between 10 and 20 bar. When deflated they weigh lesser and occupy less space allowing other safety devices to be installed.
