GT Academy, an international driving competition from PlayStation® and Nissan, has found its winners following a gruelling, week-long international final at iconic British racetrack Silverstone. 28-year old Lars Schlömer, from Germany and 23-year old Lucas Ordoòez from Spain beat 20 other competitors from across Europe to be crowned the GT Academy champions. The pair now face a four-month intensive training programme with Nissan’s race team to earn their racing licence and compete in the ultimate test of driving skill and stamina: the Dubai 24hr endurance race in January 2009.

Nissan has announced the start of production for its first passenger cars - Nissan Livina and Nissan Grand Livina - in Brazil. Known here as a domestic manufacturer of 4x4 vehicles, including the Frontier, Xterra and New Frontier, Nissan Brazil will now add passenger cars to its manufacturing roster, with sales beginning in 2009.

For the first time in the competition, contestants will have to prove that their skills go beyond virtual driving in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue™. Contestants will be getting behind the wheel of Nissan’s 350Z and GT-R to compete for the chance to be one of two drivers joining the Nissan racing team in the Dubai 24hr race in 2009.

Lap runs on the Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany’s Eifel region are often cancelled due to rain. But the wet weather didn’t stop Nissan from taking its X-Trail fuel cell vehicle for a spin on the course recently, making Nissan the first automaker to record an FCV lap on the famous race track.

Building on the strengths of a car that has taken the market by storm, Nissan’s new seven-seat Qashqai+2 will be firmly in the spotlight as it makes its glamorous world debut at the forthcoming British International Motor Show (23 July-3 August). With the focus firmly on its crossover line-up, Nissan will also launch its striking all-new Murano together with a special edition Qashqai sporting 18 inch alloys and featuring a specially designed Bose audio system.. Elsewhere on the Nissan stand visitors will be able to see the Denki Cube electric-powered concept, the Micra 25 and Note Accenta S special editions.

At 8.45pm on Sunday June 29th 2008, Nissan will launch a night shift at its plant in Sunderland, marking the start of ‘round-the-clock’ production. The third shift has created 800 new jobs at the plant and has been implemented in response to continuing excellent customer demand for the award-winning Qashqai crossover.

The fifth-edition of the report offers an update of Nissan's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives within the scope of nine key focus areas identified by the company. The report includes the Nissan CSR Scorecard which tracks the progress made on annual CSR objectives. It also outlines the achievements during fiscal year 2007 and defines new targets for 2008 as part of a roadmap for continued CSR development.
