Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced it will start providing its popular CARWINGS system to aftermarket car navigation devices in Japan. This is the first time a company's proprietary information service - previously available only with a car purchase - has been made available in off-the-shelf navigation devices. SANYO Electric Co., Ltd. will include the CARWINGS system in their latest portable navigation device beginning next month.

The Nissan Otti, which debuted in October 2006, is known for its simple, boxy styling and roomy, high utility interior. Marketed under the slogan “SHIFT_365 days: Minicars for daily living,” the Otti fits easily into the typical multi-story garage. Key refinements to the new model include redesigned exterior and interior treatments, improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions, a reorganized grade selection and new exterior colors.

GT Academy, an international driving competition from PlayStation® and Nissan, has found its winners following a gruelling, week-long international final at iconic British racetrack Silverstone. 28-year old Lars Schlömer, from Germany and 23-year old Lucas Ordoòez from Spain beat 20 other competitors from across Europe to be crowned the GT Academy champions. The pair now face a four-month intensive training programme with Nissan’s race team to earn their racing licence and compete in the ultimate test of driving skill and stamina: the Dubai 24hr endurance race in January 2009.

Nissan has announced the start of production for its first passenger cars - Nissan Livina and Nissan Grand Livina - in Brazil. Known here as a domestic manufacturer of 4x4 vehicles, including the Frontier, Xterra and New Frontier, Nissan Brazil will now add passenger cars to its manufacturing roster, with sales beginning in 2009.
