Everything used to be better! Everything? There were definitely proper winters in the middle of the last century, at least according to the nostalgic press and calendar photos published by Opel in the fifties and sixties. The motto of the time was “make the most out of life and discover something new”. The economic miracle fuelled the desire for enhanced mobility and things were on the up once again. The winter images showcase the wide Opel model range and display the photographic style of the period, thereby reflecting the spirit of a dynamic era. Opel Classic has compiled a selection of historic photos from the archives in an online gallery.

Opel’s elegant four-door Astra sedan makes its world premiere at the Istanbul Motor Show (November 3 − 12, 2006), becoming the fifth model in the bestselling Astra range alongside the five-door hatch, station wagon, three-door GTC and cabrio-coupé TwinTop variants. “This motor show is the largest in this region, and Turkey is also one of the most important sales markets for the classic compact sedan,” says Alain Visser, Executive Director, European Marketing for Opel. The new model features a range of two gasoline and two diesel engines with output between 90 and 140 hp, and will go on sale in fall 2007.
Just one year after the three-door GTC crossover concept car’s enthusiastic reception at the IAA 2005, the production version of the all-new Opel Antara now makes its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show (September 30 to October 15).

The independent Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme) organization awarded the Corsa a maximum score of five stars for passenger safety. The Corsa’s good results in the demanding test program were rounded off with three stars for both child passenger protection and pedestrian protection.

After its spectacular world premiere in London, the fourth generation of the popular Opel Corsa now takes to the road. With the newcomer, Opel remains true to its role as a trendsetter. Based on the successful example of the Astra and Astra GTC, the distinctively different coupé-like three-door and family-friendly five-door Corsa models are tailor-made for different types of customers. Since 1982, over 9.4 million units of the predecessor models have been sold in Europe. The new Corsa will again be produced in Zaragoza (Spain) and Eisenach (Germany). Both the three- and five-door versions will be available at dealerships in October 2006 and are expected to again reach top sales figures.
