Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has today unveiled the new Phantom Drophead Coupé for the first time in the Middle East, presented by the company’s official importer in Qatar, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Doha. This two-door, four-seater convertible combines the latest in light-weight engineering technology with the finest hand-crafted materials. It features several unique design options, like a stainless steel bonnet and teak decking – inspired by sailing yachts. Each car is individually built by highly skilled craftsmen and women at the company’s world headquarters in Goodwood, on the south coast of England.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars will hand over two Phantom Extended Wheelbase cars to The Peninsula Tokyo on 31 August, just before the official opening of the hotel in Marunouchi, Tokyo on 1 September 2007. The cars will be used to chauffeur The Peninsula’s VIP guests around Tokyo. These two Phantoms bring the total number in The Peninsula Hotels’ fleet to 16. In December 2006 the largest ever single order of 14 Rolls-Royce Phantom Extended Wheelbase cars was delivered to The Peninsula Hong Kong.

The authorised dealer Thomas Exclusive Cars GmbH, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Dresden, celebrated the opening of its new facilities in Radebeul near Dresden, by unveiling the new Phantom Drophead Coupé. This latest Rolls-Royce model was making its official German debut, following motor show appearances at Detroit and Geneva.

First customer Phantom Drophead Coupes leave Goodwood
The first customer Phantom Drophead Coupés have today left the company’s head office and manufacturing plant at Goodwood. The five cars are destined for customers around the world. Each car is hand-built to specific requirements and features individual wood veneer, leather and paint finish choices. The first five customers have also specified the optional steel bonnet and rear teak deck. The bonnet is machine brushed before being hand finished to ensure a uniform grain throughout. The deck is made up of separate solid teak slats, hand sanded and waxed to give a ‘just cut’ finish.

The Rolls-Royce Provenance programme offers new car peace of mind and ensures that only the finest examples of the marque gain the Provenance seal of approval. Each car has to meet exacting criteria set by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. Factory-trained technicians conduct a painstaking inspection procedure, including a full road test, to ensure that every Provenance car reaches the highest standards prior to delivery. Cars must have been maintained in strict adherence to Rolls-Royce servicing requirements to be considered and are only sold through the international network of authorised Rolls-Royce motor car dealers.

Rolls-Royce bought at auction for $1.6 million

A Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé has been bought at a charity auction for £800,000 ($1.6 million). The successful bid was made at the 9th Annual White Tie and Tiara Ball held to raise money for the Elton John AIDS Foundation. Overall the event raised in excess of £6 million, with £3.1 million raised at the auction alone. The Rolls-Royce was bought by a private buyer who will take delivery of his new car later in the summer. The event took place at the private residence of Sir Elton John and David Furnish.

Rolls-Royce opens for business in St Petersburg
A new Rolls-Royce showroom was officially opened today in St Petersburg by Ian Robertson, the Chairman and CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. This is the second Rolls-Royce showroom in Russia, reflecting the importance of the Russian market to the continued development of Rolls-Royce in Europe. The grand opening was marked by a cannon shot from the Petropavlovskaya fortress; a tradition to signal the most important events which take place in the city.
