Saab will give green motoring a performance boost at next month’s Geneva Motor Show when it unveils its latest BioPower development. The Saab BioPower 100 Concept showcases the first production-based engine to be optimized for pure bioethanol (E100) fuel. For the second year running, Swedish premium car-maker Saab has been commended by the independently-operated Thatcham Motor Insurance Repair Centre for the effectiveness of its Active Head Restraints in reducing neck injury. Thatcham has just released the results of its second annual whiplash testing results for the 2006 Model Year, in which it concludes that the Swedish car manufacturers, including Saab, ‘still regard whiplash injury as a priority’, with 100 per cent of models ranking in the highest-possibly category. This compares starkly with the results of other premium brands. For example, of the 20 German premium cars surveyed, just a fifth of those were ranked ‘good’, whilst a worrying 25 per cent were ranked as ‘poor’.
Saab will celebrate its 60th anniversary by launching special editions of its 9-5 and 9-3 model lines, featuring unique exterior and interior detailing, worth up to £3,000, all at no extra cost to the customer. The Anniversary Editions will go on sale from January 2007.

Hoping to turn the British International Motor Show green with envy when it opens in July, Saab Great Britain is proud to have on show no less than three different environmentally-friendly models. All have the potential to deliver substantially reduced – or even zero – fossil CO2 emissions, due to their ability to run on one of the most talked about new transport fuels of the moment - bioethanol.
The 2006 Saab Aero X concept car, voted 'Best of Show' at its world premiere in Geneva last month, is scheduled to make its American debut at the New York International Auto Show media days, starting on April 12. The arrival of the Aero X in Manhattan coincides with the 50-year anniversary of Saab sales activities in the United States, which started at the 1956 New York Show.
Still flying high on the overwhelmingly positive reaction to the unveiling of the aviation-inspired Saab Aero X car at the Geneva Motor Show, Swedish premium car brand Saab is enjoying more success with its continued record-breaking sales pace, with all-time volume records achieved in the UK, in Europe and globally for the first quarter of 2006.
