Škoda is the official vehicle partner of the Beijing Olympics and the Beijing Paralympics as part of Volkswagen Group’s involvement in the Games. A total of 650 Chinese versions of the Octavia - known as the Octavia Mingrui - are being used by the Beijing Organising Committee for transfers of sportsmen, guests and support staff.

Škoda Auto will act as the Main Partner of the legendary Tour de France for the fifth time this year. The cornerstone of the Company's presentation will be the new-generation Škoda Superb – the official vehicle of the Tour de France. The Superb will be used by TdF Director Christian Prudhomme and members of the TdF organisation team, as well as VIP guests. In addition, the new model will play a dominant role in the advertising convoy familiar to fans along the route. The TdF will see about 250 Škoda vehicles of all currently available model lines this year.

Successful tarmac test of the new Škoda Fabia Super 2000. Two time world champion Carlos Sainz, joined experienced test drivers Jan Kopecký and Raimund Baumschlager; the team recently tested the competition version of the Fabia Super 2000 in Austria. The Volkswagen factory driver won the Central European Rally with a Race Touareg this year in April and contributed to the double success of the new Scirocco in its class at the 24-hour race in Nürnburgring a few days ago.

The two millionth Škoda Fabia to be produced has just rolled off the production line. The record-breaking vehicle was a ‘Satin Grey’ Fabia Estate 1.4-litre 16-valve. Launched in January 2008, the new generation estate has already been delivered to 19,503 customers around the world. When one includes hatchback sales, the total number of new Fabias sold this year reaches 63,579.
