The millionth Volkswagen New Beetle will run off the production line this summer. To mark the occasion, enthusiasts from all over Europe will meet in exactly one month’s time on the New Beetle Sunshine Tour. In addition to standard models from the New Beetle and New Beetle Cabriolet range, many custom cars with special paint finishes and completely revamped bodies will be joining the parade along the Baltic coast. The Baltic Sea Tour starts on Sunday 14 July in Lübeck. It will finish with a flower-power party featuring the New Beetles at the Grömitz promenade.

Volkswagen has revealed prices for the new Golf Estate ahead of its UK launch in August, and from Friday 8 June it will be available to order from Volkswagen Retailers. Prices start at £14,347 RRP OTR for the entry-level S 1.6-litre and rise to £20,417 for the 2.0-litre TDI 140 PS with DSG and DPF (diesel particulate filter). Three trim levels are available – S, SE and Sportline – along with three engines, a 1.6-litre 102 PS petrol and 1.9-litre 105 PS and 2.0-litre 140 PS TDI units. A DSG automatic gearbox is available with the two diesel powerplants.

The Volkswagen Golf GTI W12 concept is set to make its UK debut at the GTI International show, an independently organised event which will be held over the weekend of 16/17 June at Bruntingthorpe proving ground in Leicestershire. Marking the 30 th anniversary of the GTI’s arrival in the UK, the GTI W12 – the most powerful Golf every produced by Volkswagen – will be seen for the first time since its unveiling at a GTI enthusiast event in Austria last month.

VW tuning specialist JE DESIGN from Leingarten/Germany presents now a complete styling suite for the new VW Touareg type 7 L (facelifted). The Touareg R 5 has been given a performance boost, which increases the basic power of the 2.5 l TDI engine from 128 kW / 174 bhp to 152 kW / 206 bhp. Following this performance enhancement, the maximum torque goes up to 460 Nm.

Volkswagen returns to Germany’s biggest car race with two Golf GTIs. The two factory-built and entered race cars participate in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring from 7 to 10 June. Volkswagen continues the brand’s long amateur sport tradition, which includes the 24-hour race in the Eifel, with the seriously modified 300 hp production based Golf GTI touring car.

Volkswagen will complete the development phase of the new Tiguan with a final extreme test in Namibia. During the final acceptance drive on the African continent, the electronic components and chassis of the new SUV are the primary focus of testing. Considering the electronics, a technical highlight on board the Tiguan is of special interest for the testers: the completely new generation radio and navigation system.

Based on the versatile Golf Plus platform, the new Dune model’s styling is based on that of its ‘little brother’, the Polo Dune.
