When it comes to heavy drinkers, the love of 44-year old engineer Nick Argyle’s life should be checked into rehab. But then, he created the monster … quite literally. The Rapom V8 is the most powerful motorcycle in Britain and it runs on pure alcohol. With a wallet busting fuel economy figure of four miles to the gallon, it’s just as well the bike is only used on the roads for a 10 mile journey to a local drag racing strip.

The Ducati 1098 has been voted ‘Most Beautiful Motorcycle of the Show’ at the 2006 edition of the Milan-based EICMA show. This verdict came from over 24,000 motorcycling enthusiasts who participated in a competition organised by the Italian magazine ‘Motociclismo’, which carried out, as it does every year, a survey among the visitors. The new Superbike model from Borgo Panigale won over 30% of the vote, followed – at a considerable distance – by the MV Agusta Brutale 910R and the Yamaha YZF-R1.

Not content with having set two official Guinness World Records for solo stoppies, Buell Motorcycles professional extreme rider Craig Jones has been busy rewriting the record books and rules of extreme riding once again. But this time the world-best was a breathtaking two man effort with the former European champion and co-rider Wing Chui travelling an astonishing 305 metres together on their Buell Firebolt XB12R’s front wheel. The new milestone was set on a damp and challenging day at the UK’s famous Donington Park race circuit. Jones took the Buell Firebolt to speeds in excess of 120mph before applying the front brake and balancing the bike on its front wheel.
