Toyota turns up the motor show heat with first indoor F1 test
In the space of just over a week, Toyota’s Formula 1 activities have taken it from the legendary wide open banking of Indianapolis to a course just 384 metres long inside ExCeL, the new home of the British International Motor Show. The vast exhibition hall in London’s Docklands was the arena for the UK’s first indoor F1 trial on Monday, with the Panasonic Toyota Racing TF105 demonstrating its prodigious straight-line acceleration and braking power for BBC Television’s Top Gear programme.

Lyons and tigers conquer at Goodwood
The NISMO GT500 championship winning Japanese Touring Car 350Z made its first appearance at Goodwood a memorable one yesterday by claiming the fastest time up the hill of 49.5 seconds. In fact, the Z was one of only two cars to break the 50 second barrier. This result is even more remarkable given that championship winning driver Richard Lyons had never been up the tricky and narrow hill climb circuit before.

Giancarlo Fisichella was the main draw for the tens of thousands of fans who flocked to the West Sussex venue on Sunday 9th July, driving last season’s Formula One World Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championship-winning R25.

Ferrari GB was again on the podium this weekend during the Ferrari Racing Days at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium. Ross Kaiser the leading driver in the Ferrari Challenge Dealer Team GB fought a tough battle to take 3rd place in the Trofeo Pirelli in his F430 Challenge car. Ferrari Racing Days bring together Ferrari owners and fans in a sporting weekend with Shell Historic cars, 18 Ferrari Formula 1 cars and the largest gathering of Ferrari FXX cars in Europe this year. Around 400 Ferrari owners brought their road cars to the Spa circuit in sweltering temperatures and saw wheel to wheel racing in the 3rd round of the European Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli. Spa-Francorchamps is a favourite circuit of many Ferrari drivers and in particular the challenge of the Eau Rouge section which requires skill and bravery in equal measure, and in both the Trofeo Pirelli and Coppa Shell the drivers had to fight for every place.
