A1GP World Cup of Motorsport has received influential backing for the series to hold its first race in South America. This came during a meeting in Brazil between A1GP ambassador, Emerson Fittipaldi, and Brazilian President, Luis Inacio Lula da Silva.

A1GP World Cup of Motorsport enters a new era as the 2008/09 season approaches, moving to the forefront of technology by becoming one of the first international racing series to offer its World Feed TV Broadcast in High Definition (HD). A1GP is carried by more than 45 broadcast licensees worldwide, reaching nearly 180 countries and territories around the globe. They will all now be given the option to receive A1GPs host broadcast in HD, while broadcasters without HD channels will still be able to receive the Standard Definition feed.

World Series by Renault lit up Silverstone Grand Prix circuit as Renault’s free festival of motorsport made its debut at the home of the British Grand Prix this month. A total crowd of 110,000 enjoyed a thrilling weekend of action-packed racing, high-speed demonstrations by ING Renault F1 Team and its driver Romain Grosjean and parades of historic Renault race and rally cars.

Successful tarmac test of the new Škoda Fabia Super 2000. Two time world champion Carlos Sainz, joined experienced test drivers Jan Kopecký and Raimund Baumschlager; the team recently tested the competition version of the Fabia Super 2000 in Austria. The Volkswagen factory driver won the Central European Rally with a Race Touareg this year in April and contributed to the double success of the new Scirocco in its class at the 24-hour race in Nürnburgring a few days ago.

Caparo is to make its first ever appearance at the 24 hours of Le Mans this year, after signing a partnering agreement with the Barazi Epsilon team. The team will be competing in the LMP2 category and will provide Caparo with the opportunity to develop lightweight structures and components in a competitive motorsport environment.

The Aston Martin Racing team has enjoyed a successful final qualifying session for the 76th Le Mans 24 Hours, which will get underway at 3pm on Saturday 14 June. This evening witnessed the second of two sessions – following on from the first qualifying period yesterday – to determine the places on the grid for the endurance classic.
