FiatAbarth, one of the world’s most exciting motorsport brands, today officially opens its new premises at the Fiat Group’s Mirafiori complex in Turin. The motorsport, design and manufacturing company, which is also home to Fiat’s revered Abarth Racing Team, has just moved into a purpose-built 23,000m2 building, which took a mere eight months to construct – living up to the brand’s enviable reputation for high performance. It will house more than 100 employees.

NewsSilverstone Circuit, home of the British Grand Prix, has been given the green light by local authorities for a six million sq ft redevelopment of the venue complete with a new pit and paddock complex along with a manufacturer test centre, business park, extreme sport and leisure facility, two hotels, a university campus and a Welcome Centre.

MotorsportFormula One racing’s governing body, the FIA, has confirmed the timetable for the 2008 FORMULA 1 SingTel Singapore Grand Prix. The inaugural Singapore event, which will be first ever Grand Prix to be held at night, will take place on Sunday, September 28. The race will start under the floodlights at 2000 hours local time. The qualifying sessions on Saturday and the second Friday practice session will also run after sunset.

VolkswagenVolkswagen’s latest track challenger, a supercharged and turbocharged Jetta saloon, was unveiled today (Thursday) in Britain. The Jetta TSI Sport made its debut at the Autosport International racing car show at Birmingham’s NEC, taking centre stage on the British Racing and Sports Car Club stand. The new machine will take to the track for the first time on Easter Monday (24 March) in the opening round of the Hankook-backed Volkswagen Racing Cup, at Oulton Park.
