The Mitsubishi team who have proven to be dominant on the Dakar series over the last few years, have been given the opportunity to conquer Central Europe as well as currently holding the prestigious Dakar title (2007).

A very strong team in the 2008 FIA GT1 Championship will be Phoenix Carsport with two GMAC Corvettes C6.R. The team will have a new main sponsor in General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC) which also backs the works Corvette team. Last year the collaboration between Phoenix Racing from Germany and the Dutch Team Carsport Holland resulted in overall victory in the classic 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. Jean-Denis Déletraz, Marcel Fässler, Fabrizio Gollin and Mike Hezemans shared the winning Corvette C6.R in this most important FIA GT1 race. In 2008 the alliance will be even more powerful.

Škoda has begun testing on a prototype Fabia rally car. Designed to be used in the Super 2000 category, the vehicle is based on the second-generation Fabia and, in compliance with the FIA regulations, is equipped with a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine, a six-speed sequential transmission and a four-wheel drive system.

The motorsport, design and manufacturing company, which is also home to Fiat’s revered Abarth Racing Team, has just moved into a purpose-built 23,000m2 building, which took a mere eight months to construct – living up to the brand’s enviable reputation for high performance. The Porsche GT3 RSR launches into the new model year with extensive modifications. The most powerful race car based on the Porsche 911, which last year scored wins at the 24 hour races of Le Mans and Spa as well as overall victory at the Nuerburgring 24 hours, competes in the GT2 class at international long distance races. The most distinguishing feature of the new GT3 RSR is the front end which received major improvements to the aerodynamics. The majority of innovations however are hidden under the weight-optimised body.

Silverstone Circuit, home of the British Grand Prix, has been given the green light by local authorities for a six million sq ft redevelopment of the venue complete with a new pit and paddock complex along with a manufacturer test centre, business park, extreme sport and leisure facility, two hotels, a university campus and a Welcome Centre.
