Video: Unveiling of the Chevy Volt concept car at the NAIAS
As automakers look to curb fuel consumption, the North American International Auto Show saw the unveiling of a new electric-powered concept car by General Motors (GM) - Chevy Volt. The Chevy Volt is a battery-powered electric vehicle that uses a gas engine to create additional electricity. The Volt can also run on E85 to deliver 150 miles-per-gallon (mpg). During the show, GM also introduced a new family of propulsion systems - the E-flex System - which is a series of vehicles that will produce energy from gasoline, ethanol, bio-diesel or hydrogen. The Volt is the first vehicle in the E-flex system.

Video: Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé introduced at the Detroit Motor Show
The BMW Group introduces the new Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé, a hand built two-door, four-seat convertible at the Detroit Motor Show. This car offers a less formal interpretation of the classic Rolls-Royce design. Powered by the same 6.75 litre naturally aspirated V12 engine found in the Phantom saloon, it gives the Phantom Drophead Coupé a 0-60mph time of 5.7 seconds. The first customer cars are expected to be delivered in the summer.

Winter Driving: BMW Test Base in Polar Circle Offers Perfect Conditions to Test Cars
As winter approaches, all-wheel drive cars become more important than ever. BMW currently offers 21 different models that incorporate BMW xDrive, one of the world’s most sophisticated all-wheel-drive systems. Earlier this year, the company also opened a new test center in the town of Arjeplog in northern Sweden, just 56 kilometres south of the Polar Circle. The location offers perfect climatic and logistic conditions for testing vehicle components and new models.

Video: 2008 Chrysler Sebring Convertible
The Chrysler Group unveiled one vehicle with three different roofs, the all-new 2008 Chrysler Sebring Convertible, during the L.A. Auto Show on Nov. 29. The vehicle is a first among convertibles, according to Chrysler officials, with three automatically latching top options: vinyl, cloth and a painted steel retractable hard top. In addition to its multiple top options, the Chrysler Sebring Convertible was also designed to be fuel efficient with 31 miles per gallon and Flexible Fuel Vehicle engine availability. The car will be available in the U.S. in the second quarter of 2007 and in global markets in the second half of 2007.

Video: Tiger Woods unveils the 2008 Buick Enclave
Tiger Woods was in Pasadena, CA on Nov. 28, the eve of the L.A. Auto Show, to unveil the 2008 Buick Enclave. The vehicle, which is Buick’s first luxury crossover SUV, features emissions performance by way of full four cam phasing, seating for eight passengers, a new 275-horespower V-Powertrain with variable valve timing, and safety functions like StabiliTrak. The 2008 Enclave will be available in U.S. and Canadian markets.

Video: Volkswagen Tiguan Concept
During the L.A. Auto Show, Volkswagen unveiled its Concept Tiguan, a sports utility vehicle (SUV). The vehicle, which features 19-inch tires developed by Continental, is powered by "Clean TDI" – a diesel engine that is designed to reduce emissions. "Clean TDI" is the first component of the uniform label, BLUETEC, and was initiated by Audi, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen specifically for the L.A. Auto Show. BLUETEC denotes diesel drives that comply with the most rigid emissions regulations in the U.S. The Concept Tiguan is scheduled to be released at the end of 2007.

Nissan has expanded its Sentra SE-R lineup with two 200-horespower models of its sports compact vehicle. The Sentra SE-R and SE-R Spec V, which where unveiled during the L.A. Auto Show, include various safety features like front seat Active Head Restraints and performance-oriented equipment features like 17-inch wheels and tires.

Video: Nissan Unveils Altima Coupe at L.A. Auto Show
Nissan recently unveiled its Altima Coupe during the L.A. Auto Show. The Coupe, Nissan's seventh Altima model, is a sedan-based two-door model with smaller proportions than its predecessor, the Altima Sedan. The Altima Coupe rides on a 105.3 inch wheelbase, 4 inches shorter than the Sedan, and is 182.5 inches in length, 7.1 inches less than the Sedan. The Coupe is scheduled to go on sale as a 2008 model in the summer of 2007.
