Breedlove couldn't do it with this car, there is little reason to believe Fossett can be much faster. Breedlove was pretty much underfinanced but there is more to a land speed record than cubic dollars. I think Andy Green's record is safe for several more years.

Fossett can do it in this car!

Craig Breedlove built a great car but finances kept the project from not making its goal. As a friend of car chassies builder Dennis Craig and being there in 1997 helping Craig Breedlove I can see it was ready but a little more testing aero work was to be done. Its to bad Craig Breedlove had to sell the project but it it well funded enough to see his work through to 800 mph. I think Steve is taking on a bigger quest if I was Steve I would put Breedlove in the car and get the job done in 2007

I was there in 1997 and my observation was that the car is too unstable to meet an 800mph challenge without major modification. But, I guess if anyone has the resource, Steve Fossett has! One other thing he has to think about is the size of the cockpit - Craig Breedlove is a small guy, and so is the cockpit!
